Anyone lust after a watch only to be left flat when you received it? One of my memorable ‘flops’ was back a few years ago.
Way back I went through an ecozilla stage, buying and selling various versions, ti and steel, with bracelet then adapters etc. I was gradually building up to the purchase of a watch I had been reading about and scanning sales fora for months… the autozilla. A beast. Finlly I snagged one and when it landed it was awesome… for one day.
That’s all I had, for the next day a watch case arrived from @esdee , one that I purchased in error. It was a steel millemetri, version 1 case only.
My immediate reaction was to post up the citizen for sale, I knew it would get no wrist time at all. Never gave the ‘zilla a second glance

Re: Watch flops?
Yeeeesss!! Same here with the zilla gang. I too wanted that autozilla, but the price tag was too high, so I "settled" for the lesser Ti ecozilla.
Big disappointment and instead of exiting from that arena gracefully......I went after that hummungus 20 something mm thick wrist anchor to see if it would quench the fire. Alas...another mistake and $800 in debt, I flipped it and have never looked back.

Re: Watch flops?
I probably should’ve know I wouldn’t like this Datejust but there was a new AD that I was trying to build a relationship with in hopes of getting more allocations. They were so nice that they offered to let me choose and assembly my own Datejust 41mm to my specifications. I couldn’t get any of the newest dials though and it was around 2022 early and I thought I might like this combo.
I gave them the specs and thought it would probably be months until it came along. Boom, they called me 5 weeks laters
I wore it for maybe 25 minutes and figured out I just didn’t like it.
Sold it in 2 weeks.

Re: Watch flops?
It's pretty simple.
My grandmother taught me to tell the time when I was 10 years old and then gave me a Timex watch.
My parents gave me a Seiko watch when I turned 18.
I inherited around 40 pocket watches when my grandfather passed.
When Sjef passed and I was the one to take care of his collection, his family let me choose one from the collection.
Another collector and a good friend passed and his family let me choose one from his collection,
John (Piloten) gave me a watch from Sjef's estate and I have built a few, so this is how it is.
I don't have the Timex anymore and the Seiko suffer from a leaking battery.....
