SEIKO BUILD No.2
For this second build I went for something a little different, maybe more HF style. It wasn't really planned to be like this, I just followed the flow.
I wasn't happy with the OSC dial greenish lume color IRL so I had to change it. Since the dial had applied indices I disassembled and cleaned all of them prior to reluming. I thought they had a recess for lume but they didn't so I couldn't restore the indices steel outer rim so I applied a few coats of clear varnish for a rough texture on the dial and 3 layers of lume on the indices in order to make them nice thick and rounded like it was a vintage dial.
pic of the original dial for comparison
I obviously had a go at the hands lume too so they would match the dial and while I was at it I decided to get rid of the ugly lame reddish color of the seconds hand and repainted it to a darker red color plus I added a white tip for good measure. It ended up being a lot of work for such a small part
Original seconds hand
The end result is not bad, I like the mix of modern layout and aged finish on the dial, the hands color scheme, the nice top hat sapphire and the awesome brushed steel bezel, but as a first (well second actually) build there are some things that need to be addressed like the chapter ring that at some point got out of alignment and some paint imperfections on the seconds hands due to my lack of patience (you know, sometimes I just get carried away by inspiration...).
All in all another very funny experience but, as I already mentioned in my first build, a little too expensive imho at about 450 euro in parts.
Now I'm torn because I have many new projects in mind already but at the same time I have to slow down or I'll go broke in a week
Here are the ingredients used for this build and the remaining pics:
Case: Namoki SKX007 polished/brushed
Bezel: Namoki chunky polished bezel
Crown: Namoki big grip red S
Insert: Namoki steel insert
Crystal: Namoki top hat sapphire crystal clear AR
Chapter ring: Namoki matte black white marks
Caseback: Namoki steel blasted CB
Dial: OSC no date dial relumed and textured by me
Hands: OSC relumed with custom painted red seconds hand with white tip by me
Movement: Seiko NH35
Strap: B&R Bands marine nationale style

Awesome lume job!
The dial and also the hands gained much by your work.
BTW, I found it is well worth browsing AliExpress for parts.
Quite a bit cheaper than those Sg-sources.
Also it is well worth to consider big eebee work here:

You simply can’t beat the Proxima MM-homage as a base and simply exchange dial and perhaps hands.

Yeah, big eebee builds are the reason why I'm leaning towards a MM300 for my next round. Or a srp turtle. Or both.
Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm glad you're liking these!

Re: Kilo's second best
Thanks gents, I do like it too.
Wears quite smaller than expected, its nice and heavy but at the same time very compact.
Also I have to say bezel operation is quite satisfactory, I almost forgot how cool it feels to turn a clicking bezel
