SF240 day

Post by Yoda »

Working on the third and last SF240 today, an alarm movement with narrow CdG stripes.

It's a unicorn in the sense that it has 19 jewels! The well known two extra for the train and two for the center wheel....

It doesn't really want to collaborate, so I will have to do something about the issue.

It is a movement from the crazy days on HF, Sjever and I wanted to create something special and I installed four more jewels.

Problem solved now, it was a simple hairspring job.

I am sure that it started out its life with an overcoil hairspring, but it was so bad from the beginning and a master watchmaker made it working pretty well. Still, the overcoil pressed a little and I gave up on the damn thing and reworked it to a flat hairspring and replaced the regulator arm to the longer one. Now it is alive and breathing freely.

LOLOL! Some of these things have for some odd reason become a specialty of mine.

I hope that I some day can work my way down through all these movements and build my own SF240 from NOS parts.
