setting lever jumper screw

I was working on a Unitas 285 497 and lost one of the screws for the settling lever jumper.

I have been on all fours looking for it. It is lost...

If anyone has a dead 285 497, or a screw let me know.

This screw is smaller than a 6497. I tried.

its stuck to the bottom of your shoe? In your cloths? I swear I lose things like this all the time

Did you try sweeping a magnet over the area? Those little guys will jump far, if you think you've swept a big enough area go bigger.

Hoping one of our members can chime in with a replacement for ya.

I only have for 649X.

If I happen to launch a part, I use a torch light and sweep the floor and table.

The setting lever spring is #445 and the screw is #5445.

Looking at the picture, it seems to me that the screw is not lost, it is broken. The head lost, and the tail inside the movement.

Unitas 285 497 shares the same setting jumper and screws with a couple of movements.

I was able to find a broken Unitas 429 for pretty cheap.

Looking at the picture, it seems to me that the screw is not lost, it is broken. The head lost, and the tail inside the movement.

I think it is the guide pin you see, one of the setting wheels is running on it if I am not very much mistaken.

I recently built a parts "sweeper" because of this. 3 feet of 1" pvc pipe with a 45 angle cut on one end, then a 1"x4" flat refrigerator magnet glued to the 45. Saves time on my hands and knees with a headlamp and reading glasses.

Good luck finding that replacement. If you're like me, shortly after it arrives in the mail, you will find your original screw without looking for it, and in a location you are sure you've already checked =)
