How I became "hako"

Post by hako »

For years I had this $80 ChronoSwiss regulateur homage from ebay which went by the exquisite name of "Calvaneo".
...and then it stopped working

Now, go and find a new watch. How hard could it be to get another simple one, with nothing going on on the dial, time only, no frills.

I could have been hardly more naive.
Only after endless searches in the net, I suddenly discovered Panarai. Nice, rough but yet with the little something, exactly what I was looking for, but for that price tag :?
I continued searching and finally came across a name and an email: Davidsen. After much hesitation (it was my first time ordering something abroad, not to speak in China, not to speak of a custom built watch,...) I decided to pull the trigger and sure enough, after a couple of weeks, I got a package:

Note the saying:

I opened the box and...

I was devastated. "I should have known before", I told myself and many more things I should not quote here
... when I looked into the box again, and there she was tucked away on the bottom.

Shortly after this, I discovered HF and after some lurking I took heart to introduce myself and started to build these awesome things myself, too.
It was Tanukjaju who introduced me to River and I built my first 3646.
20 builds later I find myself in the new HF and it feels like the beginning of a new era :D

You get a toy for padding in a box!!

I bought a watch once from eBay and got loose clean adult diapers for cushioning. my forum name could be “Mr Dependable”

Great story. I got a watch in a sealed headphones box but never in a toy, that's legend :)

Yours is the most interesting story about becoming an homager that I have ever heard about.

Davidsen is cool.

Well, until the moment I discovered the watch, it was a little bit disconcerting :?

That was very thoughtful. Do you still have the stuffed Stitch?
