This information is helpful for sure. I believe a SF240 in 32mm size is as rare as Hens teeth. If it really exists and If I really find one! Then I will be able to homage a smaller case size 8 days Egi with a more correct Sub second spacing!

There are 2 ...3 smaller more affordable 8 day movements. The lemania and concord and a felsa

Is there anything modern that can take the place of a 240 ?Something that cam be easier to get, service and be more accurate ?
And i am talking at reasonable cost.

My thought on a substitute of modern and on par with the SF240 is the Cal P2002/9! Of course it is not easy to get and definitely not going to be cheap!!! But the specs and beauty of the movement is by far the best substitute IMHO.

Well yes ,thats an in house movement,hard to find on its own and if you do find one it would be very expensive and not something you would want to mess around with i guess! Thats pure horology movement.
Keep in mind that back in the days 240 were movements for alarm clocks even in 2003 i believe Panerai (Richmond) bought 100 spare 240 from Ferretti's for 100-200 euros each if remember.Ok they were re-manufactured then in order to be considered as a horology movement (like 100-200 parts if remember reading) but the base cost was cheap because they were not considered watch movements.
The hardest part is to maintain one ,i have not gotten one so far all these years but from what i read here a,they are very sensitive and some gears break easily ,which then are impossible to find ,much more harder today with the hommage mania going to all levels ,except this forum i mean.This is what kept me back ,impossible parts ,fragile movement and hard to service and costly ,very costly !
I was hoping for an Asian type budget movement like a p3000 clone ,but even that is hard to get on its own as i also read here.
It doesn't have to be exactly 8 days but with an extend reserve will do.
We need to break out a bit and see some more alternatives.

I Have thoughts on 1) building ,2) getting someone to built it for me ,3) or buying from someone an "Italian" hommage with an 8 day but my concerns are as sated above and also its been a while since i built something and most sources i knew for the know,cases dial etc are gone or don't make them anymore.
Besides i sold or gave most of my tools along with my patience :
So best choice will be 2 or 3 ,but keep it at a reasonable cost .

[mention]Alou[/mention] i do have a 240 that has been with me about 10 years. It was probably in the bottom5% in condition of all movements I have since handled. It was nicely serviced by Yoda... I should say rebuilt. Once serviced, she has been as good as any 6497 that I have owned. In this case, surviving multiple transplants in many cases.

The spare parts are easy enough to get these days... look for a key winding unit ($200 ish) for the gears... (just no keyless works). The weak point on the movement again is the gears on the HW. Not because they are poorly made, but because they were used to drive the date complication on the clocks with separate calendars. . Once in our builds, they aren’t any issues.

Servicing is the same as doing a 6497, perhaps a little simpler as the thickness of the movement makes it easier IMO.

I think you guys are convicting me to go ahead with the 240 bug, i will try to spot a good one here and see then about the rest of the watch parts ,unless like i said get some one to built it for me.First step is to start save some for a nice 240 as soon as it shows up! i guess.

I will be on the look out, i never found an Angelus watch or clock locally by the way ,

I have a couple of Jagger Le Coutre desk clocks which were family owned ,probably more expensive back then but movement is big and also no second hand as i can see.
