Definitely agree. Athaya tall tube seconds hand has a longer spade then most of the 39mm 3, 6, 9, 12 dials with subseconds i’ve held. Including a southy 6497 spaced subsec. lpmm but I’ve lived with it.TimemiT wrote:careful with the Secs hands ... I learned the hard way where I purchased 3 from Athaya because they were $15 each compared to NW which are $60+ shipping ... Athaya's secs hands are long and they overlap the tick marks on NW's 3-piece dials ... so if you have NW 3 piece dials ... you may have to fall on the sword and buy his ... or have one of our WS make one ... either way, the cost will be way more than $15
So the moral is ... not all 3 piece dial sec ticks are created equal
I’ve actually always thought it was because of the spacing (further out from the center) that the seconds tick marks had to be smaller in order not be cut off by the 9. That said, I assumed the closer spaced sub second 240 dials had longer ticks and appear to fit longer spades...but most of those dials are 37mm...at least on Athaya website and for gen spec dials in NW’s site. Not sure how the 39mm sub sec 240 2pc dials look from NW, but I’ll find out soon from a project I’m working on where I’ll need to use a 39mm dial in his old case(Jackson-essentially ) without needing to change out the bezel for a 2pc to fit the 37mm gen spec dial.
Just trying to figure out options.
