Yes, it happens from time to time... I usually keep a drawer open on my bench while working, so it sits under my chest and I keep flat microfiber cloth in drawer.. So, if part jumps, it usually falls on cloth.
If it goes on the floor, things become harder...
Old-used lady's socks, they are very thin... I put one sock over vacuum cleaner head, then bind a magnet near air inlet and another sock over it again, to keep everything in place. .. "Clean" the floor with vacuum cleaner and all metal/steel parts are on magnet usually.. Brass parts happen to stay on sock...
Just be careful to keep socks without holes

However, my wife like that cleaning part of story but she hates when I say "give me your socks"
