Re: Just Finished
Wow…… so much I want to say! At the end of the day, this is one of my goals… to be able to make a watch case from scratch. My patience and skill level still stuck at spacer making
Ooooo. Where did you get these screws from?
Hope to see this when we GTG!

This looks brilliant- great reinterpretation!

Well it took a while.......................7 years actually.................
This thing was put on the back burner while I mulled things over for what was supposed to be a couple months then life got in the way.
I made the case 7 years ago and its been in my drawer waiting for me to actually be home and work on it, my work load is slowly lifting leaving me with more time to make these.
This is a proofing piece made of bronze for ease of machining on my conventional machines at a bigger scale then what's in the works, the planned one is in stainless steel and is equipped with a 28 series or 77 series ETA maybe chrono i'm on the fence the drawings are done I just have to decide which one.
While making this I revised a few things for the next one
1-No case screws showing in the front only the strap clamp screws
2- Smaller crown (for a smaller case)
3- Dial needs to be closer to the crystal or a chapter ring not sure
4- Some internal design aspects like movement holding
I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the case build from 7years ago but you get the drift.
Let me know what you would change your input is always welcomed (lets brain storm it)
The just finished case back then
One rendition that will never see the light
One that will see the light of day
Misc Pictures
Cupric Nitrate
Nitrated parts ready for assembly
Cased up
What the hell one last one

Re: Just Finished
Wouldn't change anything. I love how the case looks like a clock on the instrument panel of a fighter jet. Was that the intention or happy accident?

Re: Just Finished
Very nicely done! I like the screws on the front.
The only thing I would change is the crown, to one with a coin edge to match the mid case. And I do have an observation about the strap attachment, which because of the angle may make the strap curve at less than optimal angle but that may not be an issue with a wrist large enough.

Re: Just Finished
I totaly agree with you i dont have a strap for it yet ill be making one next week ill post an update on it. I had the same observation when i was designing it but because its a proof of concept in a larger size im kinda stuck with it.straps68 wrote: ↑March 13th, 2022, 9:32 am Very nicely done!
