A few things to take care of! If you are going to widen the holes, do it from the back side! Making them blue, if you haven't done it before I suggest that you try on a piece of thin steel before doing this. Place the hands on a piece of brass and heat from under the brass plate, throw it into water or oil to stop the process. I think that blue is around 290 Celsius if I am not very much mistaken. I haven't done it in a long time.
Luming is done from the underside of the hands.

Your welcome.
As Yoda said, try to broach the hole from one side. The broach is tapered and it will make a (slightly) tapered
hole which will slide onto the CP and HW easier.
Broach.
Broach a little and check fit. Slow and steady. So easy to overshoot on the size.
Polish.
Polish to the desired finish you like. Then clean. Clean and clean.
Any impurities will show up once you start to blue. Do not touch them after cleaning.
Did I mention to clean them really well?
Blue.
Again slow and steady. Very slow, it is so easy to over shoot the color you want. The different shapes of the hand will change colors at different times. Go slow, let the whole hand get to the same color, then add a little more heat to progress to the next color. I place my hands on a 3/16" piece of bronze and heat from underneath. Moving the heat around to the areas I feel need to "catch up". I don't dip them in water or oil. Some people do. I find that the speed I'm going is so slow, I do not need to stop the color change. (Actually maybe I'm pulling them off just a tad before the color I'm looking for......you can always go back and add a little more heat if you pull them off too soon.
Failing that, contact me. I can fix most all mistakes.
