WWII Field Watch

Post by atkin68 »

I was going through my box and came across something I’ve been holding for a while - my grandfather’s field watch from the war. I have all of these vintage PAM military watches that enthrall me and are 47mm beasts. And here’s this little thing - It just feels like a ladies watch at just over 31mm.

Has a broken balance staff but the movement looks clean & seems to wind and set ok. Maybe someday I’ll send it off to unreformed and get it working again before I hand it down to one of my kids eventually.

@atkin68
Fluco makes a nice bund strap that goes well with small vintage watches.

This photo is from online. Watch is 31mm He has the strap too loose. correctly worn it would look better. Even if bund isn’t for everyone. For $35 it is worth a try. Might allow you to wear the watch every once in a while and enjoy the history.

Thanks all, and thanks @Yoda and @mountaineer for the research and strap suggestion. Never really been a fan of the bund, but in this context you see how it can take a cool piece like this from being unwearable to wearable.

Have it restored and wear it when and if you want, you are the custodian now!
