Another watch I found in the drawer (HMT)

Post by calvinktlim »

I found yet another watch in my drawer. I recalled I got this some years back when on a military watch buying spree at the MWT forum.

This is supposed to be a field watch used by Indian soldiers. But it has a flimsy dial (similar issue as the universal geneve, the dial wobble when I try to wind it)ImageImageImageImage

Interesting. You might already know this, ‘Jawan’ on the dial below the hmt means Soldier. Cool watch!

Bought one of these back in the day. You can appreciate it is like an early Vostok watch but made with less precision.

I don't know if they have improved over the years or if the brand is out of business.

I googled them. It seems they are still around and it seems newer versions can be found on ebay and even amazon for very little :)

That's good to know. I reckon these can be starter watches for kids.

The dial moves when you wind it because the movement isn't fastened to the case - case screws are missing in both watches. Quite a difference in quality between this and the Universal though but this most likely cost less than the box the other one came in.
