I’m not sure I could part with a watch that was special to me - especially if I didn’t need the money - I guess these were just objects to wear for a few months on a film set...

Re: Sylvester Stallone Presents Five Watches He Is Selling At Auction
Yeah, he has a shitload of watches in his collection
I remember Sly because back in the 80's I collected knives as well as he did, we knew some of the same old collectors. He used a knife maker called Jimmy Lile to make the knife in Rambo 1 .. First Blood ... and in Rambo III he used another knife maker named Gil Hibben. I had one of the original serial numbered Rambo III knives by Hibben, both in stainless and Damascus set.
Sly, has been in the collecting world for decades and decades now ... he knows the game and how to play it. He happened upon Panerai at a time when they need some real marketing muscle ... Sly and then Arnold provided that. The rest is history .. as we can all see. Where would Panerai be today .. if it wasn't for guys like Sly, Arnold ..and then other Hollywood actors adding marketing muscle to the brand.

I’ve heard that he was personally invited to choose some of his watches for sale with Phillips from a personal connection for what that’s worth.
I’m sure it’s fun also to have a highlight of the watch collecting world on your interesting watches.

I know Perezcope (aka Jose) is someone with a lot of skeletons in his closet but a friend sent me this article after I sent him the hammer price on Sly's watches:
https://perezcope.com/2020/12/23/the-st ... -debunked/
If half of it's true it sure paints an ugly picture of Stallone being an entitled cheapskate and Richemont being a bloodthirsty scavenger at best, or actively complicit in the death of the original Panerai at worst. It also introduces an aptly named Monty Shadow, who was pulling the strings in the background, I would love to know what he got out of the whole thing though I'm sure it's buried under a redundancy of NDAs.

I wouldn't put it past Sly to be hustling as he always is, and that most (if not all) of that story is true. Sly was always "Hollywood" AF ... and he has always been a show man first. In those early movies he learned alot about product placement and profiting off of that in his movies .... he used famous knife makers in his Rambo movies, and he was/is a big knife collector. Then he got into watches ... well, between him and Arnold ... they made brands like Panerai and AP take off. Maybe he learned a bit about the old James Bond movies and Rolex.
Well ... it's not the first (or last) celebrity that a watch brand tries to profit from, and vice versa ... I mean, look at the Tiger Tudor chronos
... that didn't exactly play out so well for Tudor back then.

Re: Sylvester Stallone Presents Five Watches He Is Selling At Auction
Taking 60-70 watches and not even signing an agreement to be used in advertising seems more like a scam than a hustle in my opinion. I just feel sorry for Dino Zei between losing Panerai and then Anonimo.
