I have looked at that hole again and again, it looks as if there is a screw head there, I wonder if it is keeping the intermediate bridge or something else....it is a mystery to me, why would someone drill a hole in a movement?

we are talking about that red circled part? as I look very well, it is the gear, crown wheel which is screwed to the small gear on top of the barrel bridge. this gear is drilled a phase around the hole. maybe to fit a not original screw, maybe the gear is not original, could be why the clutch wheel is missing,I don’t know why.Yoda wrote:I have looked at that hole again and again, it looks as if there is a screw head there, I wonder if it is keeping the intermediate bridge or something else....it is a mystery to me, why would someone drill a hole in a movement?

Re: Interesting eBay Auctions
You are most likely right, but I don't really understand why it looks like this? In my book, all original parts must be preserved and any new part made to fit the rest.tafari wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2020, 2:33 pmwe are talking about that red circled part? as I look very well, it is the gear, crown wheel which is screwed to the small gear on top of the barrel bridge. this gear is drilled a phase around the hole. maybe to fit a not original screw, maybe the gear is not original, could be why the clutch wheel is missing,I don’t know why.Yoda wrote:I have looked at that hole again and again, it looks as if there is a screw head there, I wonder if it is keeping the intermediate bridge or something else....it is a mystery to me, why would someone drill a hole in a movement?

Re: Interesting eBay Auctions
The full answer came now:
"Hi, answering your second answer first. The movement will be shipped assembled. The pictures of it in various stages of assembly/disassembly were to show it exactly as it is. As to why it may be different than you expected, it is an old movement with its own long history. Hard to say at what point it may have been worked on in the past.
I had to cancel and relist the auction in order to revise is as it already had a bid, after which eBay wouldn't let me make any changes. The new auction, ending the same day, 15 minutes later, is: 264962849039
Hope this helps"
