Yes, the UT appears to be a bit more robust.

Short off topic:
I have a bunch of ut285 movements... Really like NOS. I bought them cheap, they came in an old box. All were working but very weird, with strange amplitude.. After two days, I spotted: all of them had Molnia balancesImage
Since I saw pictures before I bought them, I couldn't make any claim...
So I bought one new ut285 balance and now it works like charm...
Others are waiting for new balances, still...
However it says a lot about their robustness as well.

It could be a gift with the year 1976 engraved…., but after that….shut up!
No clue on the service history but these pics were taken after I disassembled them, did a quick rodico cleaning, oiled, reassembled, and regulated. Both working perfectly afterwards. One was working just fine beforehand apart from being +30s. The other had some weird amplitudes in some positions but is fine now. I’ve been getting really lucky with these.
nice movements, can I ask what is a “rodico clean” ?

It’s a half-assed way of cleaning an already working movement with a questionable service history so I can rest easy knowing there’s no trolls living under the bridges

It looks like a set, add a movement and you are done!

From?
from a fellow member!

it will be a gift for a friend.

I think I have a swiss 6497 but the balance wheel turns freely (?) maybe the pivot is broken (?)

SUPER EXCITED!!!

Just got word and pictures from Emilio. The project, that he was kind enough to let me obtain through him (Don’t tell the US gov that this was a straw purchase, lol), because the seller would not deal with anyone outside EU, is currently in his possession in Spain, to be shipped to me to the States soon.

Let me say again, how great of a community this is and how awesome our members are.

I told a few friends about what it is taking to get this project watch and most are in disbelief that someone in Spain, who never met me before would go out of his way and do this. Yep, super proud to be a member here and consider you guys friends.

Thank you again Emilio!
