I am in need of a 2824 or 2836 with tall CP/HW, probably H4/5/6. I can find replacement CP/HW for ETA but not the asians, nor can I find asian mvmts with the tall H's. There is no date on the build so date wheel is irrelevant.
My build really doesn't warrant an expensive ETA mvmt, so I'm in a pickle.
So...
1. Does anyone know where I can get an asian with tall CP/HW or just the parts?
2. Does anyone have an ETA at a steal of a deal, with or without the tall so I can order some and swap myself?
Thanks guys.

I might be way off, but I think a cp and hw could probably be interchanged between an asian and swiss movement. I suspect that they don't have the same tolerance requirements as other drivetrain parts. I think I have done this with cp and hws for the 6497.
I guess it would depend on if the hole on the CP is too tight for the swiss center wheel pivot. If it's too big it can be crimped, too small might be another story.
Just a thought, I'm sure someone much more knowledgable than myself will chime in.

Hahaha. I know it's not common on 649x that the parts are interchangeable. I have tried and failed in the past. Maybe our resident experts Yoda djolemag unreformed66 can chime in and fill us with knowledge. Thanks for the suggest thelonedoc

Really didn't have too much touch with asian mvmt, can't say. Generally, friction holds CP in place. If you can find common CP for 2824/2836, try if they fit on asian. If so, tall ETA options will fit too... If I have asian by hand, I would try, but nothing like that in the drawer at this moment...blueradish wrote:Hahaha. Thank you. I have found the main reason they aren't interchangeable is that the gears (teeth) on the 649x are different. Maybe I will have to roll the dice and see. Hey man,
I bought H5 set from this guy as well as his top grade eta and sent it to Yoda for put it on.
But surprisingly there was a little match issue that Michael could fix.
The supposted to fit..from Switzerland dammit.
Seller does not sell already fixed ones.
Anyway, try this guy. Not asian though..

What an arbitrary detail to change...
If they are copying a movement, just copy it to spec.
Interchangeability with the swiss counterparts would be an extra selling point for those asian movements and improve their marketability.
Seems so senseless and counter productive.

Would it be possible to re-crimp cannon pinion in different location for proper alignment?Yoda wrote: ↑February 16th, 2020, 2:05 pm I think that the CP and HW will fit, but the problem is that you need to replace the center wheel as well, otherwise the "waist" on the arbor won't be at the same level as the crimped portion on the cannon pinion.
The teeth are most likely different and that is the issue.
Obviously not if the layout is dramatically different, but on a tall CP maybe there is enough real estate to crimp higher or lower?
