Wasn't River hands tall and heat blued? The top part of the hands (the blued metal) was attached to a regular tube with friction.

If my memory serves me right... 🤔

I have NW 616 blue heated hands that I’m not going to use. The inner ring is loose but since you are going to make make them tall tube, I think that it won’t be a problem for you.

If you want them I can make $20+shipping. You can ask Yoda about the hands because he was going to broached them.

I’m not going to use them and they will be lost in a drawer.

Gordon was telling me that his hands are anodized blue, not heat treated. We got into a friendly argument about it. He insisted that gen blue hands are actually anodized. In the end we agreed to disagree.

I was trying to get tall tube heat treated hands also, but the best solution I could find was tubes from other tall tube hands and flat steel hands.

Well, I have seen enough videos of swiss watchmakers making blued steel hands, and have seen enough vintage watches and pocket watches to know that this was a common watchmaking practice. To me anodized blue hands don't really make logical sense. Blueing the hands served logical purposes; creating corrosion resistance, and giving the steel the desired physical properties. Plus you can see spots of rust on old vintage panerai hands.

That being said... Gordon knows a lot more about vintage panerai watches than I do and has actually handled gen parts.

I really don't know what to think about it... hehe. I just know that I prefer the look of real steel blued hands.
