Yes it’s possible to polish it’s the same as “normal” 316L. Already did screw casebacks and threads works perfectly.

Congrats @bmsm!!! Looks great! I love the feeling of getting a movement back together and running proper, especially if it wasn’t working when it arrived. Also, give it another look on the timegrapher after 24 hours, they settle in a bit sometimes and need a tiny bit more fine tuning.

Just to share with you guys that for me, the worst part was servicing the shock system. Those jewels are terrific small and my tweezer skills need way more practice. Redone the thing over and over.

I’ll check again tomorrow to see if it still looks good.

Yes! Honestly I think it’s easier to fix a bent hairspring than to perfectly oil and assemble the shock settings. Incabloc is what, 90 year old technology? It works amazingly well but man is it fiddly! $20 Ali movement to some of the most expensive hand-made watches out there - all incabloc or a very similar design.

Sharp tweezers and polished oilers help a lot. Steady meditation breathing, add the drop of oil when you exhale. Only apply slight pressure on the tweezers as you pull the oiler away to prevent the jewel from sticking to it. Otherwise the tweezers should barely be touching the jewel. I only get it all perfect in one try half the time, so hopefully others can offer more or better techniques.

I find it helpful to listen to music or lectures when I’m working on rebuilds. Richard Feynman, Alan Watts and Timothy B. Shutt for lectures, also Dan Carlin can set the mood well if you’re working on a milspec project. For music I go with long form ambient synth, surf rock or surf punk.
