I just happen to have an incompleted ST3600 laying around, when I winded it up, I found it vibrated a bit quicker. I took out the U6497 and compared them, indeed the seagull one should be 21500bpm movement and has a smaller balancer than the standard U6497.
Now I'm wondering, is that possible I can use all the gears and balancer from the ST3600 on the U6497. I think it shouldn't be difficult, but the U6497 I got is in very good condition, I wouldn't risk it too much to do this before I consult the wisdom here.

I don't think that the train wheels will be interchangeable, the Asian movements are quite different from the Swiss.
You can use the screws and most of the winding parts, that is all.

U6497 vs ST3600 are not interchangeable.
Both are more a „drop-in replacement“.

Friend, from st36 you can use following parts to replace ut6497:
1.mainspring is compatible, but not barel arbor.. But after that beat error is usually high..
2.screws, key and key parts..
3.canon pinion too.. But canon pinion (for minute hands) and is to wide and you can tighten little.. Pinion for hour hand is ok.. Very often st36 have H3 dimension pinion it's very useful for usualy ut6497 for our building..
It's my experience..

I know it isn't scientific, but seems like it may work.Denis wrote: ↑May 11th, 2022, 1:27 pm Friend, from st36 you can use following parts to replace ut6497:

Now it wasn't fully pressed in, the pin size of the ST3600 balance bridge seems to be a bit smaller than 6497, I wouldn't risk too much to break anything. but this does show the clearance and relative location of everything might be the same.
I know that individual wheels or parts may not be interchangeable, since they're in different frequencies. But what if I use all the 'internal' of the ST3600 on the 6497 main plate and bridges. This only requires the relative location of the stones close enough, and they might work. I also know that even if it works, the tolerance and accuracy would not be the case anymore, so just for fun really, but it's a good fun project to build a 21600bpm 6497.
