Help movement Cortebert 616

Post by bmsm »

Hi there,

I'm seeking for a Cortebert 616 for my next project.
I've found these 2:

1) Balance wheel OK, but the doesn't wind.

2) Works but looks like it got pieces from another watch

My doubt is should I buy the 1 or the 2? We are talking about 1/3 of the price.

Thanks

Don’t listen to him.... when he needs a stem...he buys a lathe.

I would say it depends on your plans ....

Doesn’t wind 70% of the times means it needs a service...is fully wound but stalled...does the time adjustment work fine? .just thinking out loud.
:shifty:

I would say number 1, service and a new mainspring. Number two looks rotten to me.

Me personally would take option three:
Pass on them and wait for a proper one.
When I came fresh to HF I read in Mel‘s signature: „Movements are likes busses. If you miss one, take the next.“
There sure will be a good one up in the near future with better preserved plates and better condition ;-)
And this will mean more fun and joy for you.

The two also looked rotten to me.
For the 1 the thing is the price. Would you give ~100USD for a broken 616?
