I am looking into building a watch or two .Could you guys give me some input into what tools I should invest in .I will be just assembling watch parts ,I will not be disassembling watch movements .I would be looking to get the basic tools to get the job done. Also, where do I buy them from which tool makers to stay away from t. Thanks for advance for any suggestions.Pondoro

yup mostly, but if forum posts are basically "go on youtube" then forums you die a fast death .

I dont have my tools in one place, its tucked away in various places

I would say get these.

Movement holder : heavy brass/steel one that is going to be sturdy.
Watch holder - I use it to take bezels off, but the watch in the wat holder. Holder in hand thumb on crystal, pry rotating bezel open. Wuith the watch in the watch holder, you get more grip on the watch and place your thumb out of the way so you dont stab yourself.

I wasn't lazy to say what tools are need. Anyone could have put together a list of the tools.

When I wrote "go to YouTube" etc., I wanted that the questionnaire should watch 2-3 YouTube videos where the parts aren't just rattled off, but they are shown and where/how they are used. (I think…) That was the better answer, right?

I have many tools I bought out of being crazy enthusiast I didn't use some of them yet, I know one day I need them for sure. Some tools I buy out of love for vintage stuff. My first teacher had his workshop inside a military warship. He has to make many tools as it was unable for him to buy them. I always admired these tools. Now I buy similar tools on eBay for the good memories and emotions.

There are a few basic tool sets out there, movement holder, pad, caseback and hands remover, screwdrivers etc.

I would be inclined to spend a few more € on screwdrivers. You don’t need a huge amount to get going. Assume first build or two will be learning curves.

A set like this is ok- has all the bits. Once you get going you can start getting better quality screwdrivers etc as needed- something like this (link):

beautiful transparent boxes for your projects unfortunately you will accumulate unfinished projects recently I bought big boxes with small transparent boxes inside, where I put beautifully my many movements that I buy faster then I make my projects
