Thanks, sadly the import duties wouldn't make it viable. Spanish customs make up charges depending on their mood.

Are you sure ?
Nowadays, online sellers are collecting VAT and return it to recipient’s country (for amounts < 150EUR)
So when you buy from CousinsUK, they have you paying Spanish VAT,
it’s stated on the invoice and linked to parcel tracking number, and you shouldn’t have to pay any import taxes.
It works fine when importing in FR, there is no reason why it should be different for Spain: this is a EU ruling.
Even Aliexpress is acting the same.

Re: RAF NATO
Think post Brexit there have been differing attitudes to trade with the UK. Spain has had a relaxed view on what they charge. For example my eldest son who lives in the UK and works for a well known motor factors posted me a small part for my car priced £5 it arrived at my local Correos with duty to pay of €35,while I was busy arguing the toss they said it had been returned to sender. Oddly enough he never received it. As you say AliExpress seems fine.

The part you get from your son is not the same situation:
when you buy online and the seller is collecting VAT for Spain, it’s recorded with the parcel.
If it works with Aliexpress, it should be the same with CousinsUK.
As for the 35EUR they asked for a 5GBP parcel value, you have to distinguish:
- VAT collected (should be around 20%)
- Import fees (approx. 6% in FR, but not systematically applied)
+ handling fees : these depends on the shipping company, not a public tax.
So sometimes you can have to pay 30EUR handling fee for 1EUR VAT collected!
