Just Read this article.
Panerai selling 27k watches with a basic 2892A2 with chrono Dubois Depraz module. They didn’t even finish the movement. My Longines has a better finished 2892A2.

And above all the company states in-house movement.

Yep, just read it too. Definitly prefer vintage panerai's history before Richemont era

This popped up in my google feed also. Interesting and confusing. Why? It feels like whoever is holding the reigns there does not have a long range vision for the brand... Unless they are hoping to transform themselves into Invicta eventually...

Re: PAM318 Take 2
I really don’t understand why. That price tag deserves a much better movement. That one is a nice movement but for a 27k??
The company is only thinking on how to attract big fish to the tank, so they come up with bling bling solutions and entry level movements. Maybe the target profile is someone with cash that just wants to show its new expensive gold watch and does care a shit about the movement.
Next year to celebrate an important mark in my life I was thinking on getting a gen Pam. But after this I never know what’s inside, a repo one my the price of this “in-house” caliber worths the same. I think at the end I’ll go for an IWC or JLC.

Well, all that gold is worth a three or four thou, so there's that...
Here's what that movement can look like with TOP finishing. Here as a Bvlgari 220 movement. And sadly it sits behind solid Ti so I have only seen it once

They shit in their own backyard...
Buying one of those is never going to happen. I can build a better watch any day and I can take care of it if it fails.
Everything after Richemont entered the scene is a pile of expensive manure. The 318, please...
Like when TAG entered the scene with HEUER, give me a break.

I agree with you so much on the modern PAM’s. I still cannot believe they added a press fit case back on the base model. I think they use spring bars instead of screw lugs. The water resistance is only 10bar on a “dive” watch.Yoda wrote: ↑August 9th, 2021, 2:21 pm They shit in their own backyard...

Re: PAM318 Take 2
This really sucks because I own quite a few PAMs from a 29A to 579 and in between ... and I really really hate to see this Hublot sheit that PAM is doing here. Trying to think that PAM buyers are only in it for whatever the bling and the look is.
Who ever is the guy that is responsible for that model needs to be fired ... I mean really .. do they think the true PAM collector would not call them out on this garbage?! We overlook the past models and their movements because the brand was growing, but even then. .. they did use Lemania, Zenith and JLC in prior models. They couldn't go with a Zenith or other brand for this model???
Once they invested and went In-house, that should be a source of pride and prestige for a brand ... they needed to leave all those ETA, Unitas and Valjoux based movements behind. They will get alot of sheit for this in the Risti forum ... you can bet.

They did learn
the PAM318 was solid caseback and this one it's a display.
