Molly 3608 problem and question

I've just received a watch with a Molly 3608 which I plan to put into my Athaya pilot. From the back, looks to be running very strong and smooth, as advertised. However, around the front, the second hand sweeps nicely only in spurts, and then alternates to ticking like a quartz, and then alternates to stuttering. This is my first encounter with one of these movements, and I'm not sure what to look for, but I wouldn't be real surprised if someone told me the seconds hand was simply a little loose. I can't see any disruption of the balance to correlate to the inconsistency I see in the seconds hand. Any thoughts?

If you can see the sweep second wheel is turning with no stutter, my next guess would be that the seconds hand is not tight enough on the pinion. Perhaps crimping the second hand tube will resolve the issue.

Stuttering seconds hand is a feature of the movements with indirect center seconds. All movements of this type have this same problem. It can be somewhat mitigated by adjusting the spring which acts on the seconds pinion (on the 3608 it sits under the pinion), but can as good as never be totally eliminated...

It often happens when the seconds hand is pressed on without supporting it on the back. The spring will loose its tension and most likely be deformed.

To me the wheel looks a little tilted also...

Could this fix be applied to a miyota 8215? That movement has the problem on stock versions.

As long as it has the centre seconds wheel and the supporting spring, yes.
It's not an uncommon thing in some IWC movements, the cure is the same.

I'm not an expert but that miyota movement has center seconds.
I don't know if it has that spring.
Can it be viewed without disassembling the movement?
