Looking for info from any Montreal members.

I'm thinking of purchasing an item on an auction in Montreal.

Do you know of any services/companies that will pick up , package and ship (drop the item off with a shipping company) the item?

I used a service in Toronto a couple years ago. I think it was called Pak mail. They do not seem to have a Montreal location. They also required that you drop the item off.

UPS seems like a possible option, but again I believe I need to drop the item off.

I'm looking at a used Sherline mill. Similar to this....

So approx. shipping weight over 50 pounds. As you can see some disassembly would probably make packaging easier.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thank you

Don’t know if this is of any help. I‘ve been working with short term cargo a lot and in germany there’s a thing called „Frachtbörse“ where you can book an unused slot in a cargo van for example... you get in contact with the driver and they are pretty cooperative over here. It’s a bit like ebay. I had one pick up a large espresso machine with grinders and tools directly off a bartop on a large expo. He packed and delivered the whole deal nicely.
Maybe there’s an equivalent in Canada as well.

Thankyou Phaedros.

I'm researching my options.

That „Frachtbörse“ setup would probably work great over here. I did find a post on a local buy and sell site in Montreal where a gentleman would help package items for people moving. I sent an email off to him hoping he might be interested in helping me with this project.

A company called the UPS store will package and ship, but you need to drop item off at their location.

I'll figure something out.

Cheers,

I was going to say the same thing, both rock solid guys. I don't think X-Treme is on HF2.0. I have his contact info if you need it. He's also friends with Nejad

Good info guys, thankyou.

Auction house got back to me this morning. They will package the item for me and allow a shipping company to pick up the package.

Now I'm calling around checking shipping companies.

This might work out..... I will keep you updated.

OK, I have a temp plan in place.

The auction site was nice enough to contact seller and they will package if I win the auction.

UPS will pick up at sellers address and deliver to me for approx. $183.00 Cad. (Can't beat this).

Now I need to win the item.. Monday I will know. If I win I will update. There is a little back story to this that might be interesting.

Cheers,
