Hello ,
I accidentally polished the case of a pam wich had minor scrathes that were remove with a capecod cloth.
But on the process someone called me got carried away and while talking did the caseback as well and now its polished and not that
light mat slightly brushed back it used to have. Its not that bad but i preferred the mat one.
Can it be turned back into mat and brushed .Watch is a pam 390 and i dont actually remember how it was before in original state!
I dont have any tools anymore so asking how can it be done.
I also have the same thing on the caseback of a submariner 116610 (not done by me but also done with capecod) .

I use that, gives a very nice satin finish





on the CB of my MM

A 1000/1200 grit pad will create the finish you are looking for.

Both tips might work better for the Submariner back provably rubbed back and forth linear.
but for the pam the brushing is circular (See a pic from the web)

I think service point use dremels to do this ?

I’m sure it is cnc done. it will be hard to archive that circle look back. I try could be, to rotate the cb on this vlies pads....

The ghetto solution is hot glueing the caseback to a Dremel felt disk and rubbing the CB with sandpaper while it's spinning

The circles are still there the mat look is gone !Perhaps i will tale pics and post them later .

is impossible to rescue the old circle satin finish, because it is now polished. the only solution is to give it a new circle satin finish.

Perhaps i might leave it as it is now ,who cares anyway.
On the submariner i might try it with the 3M pad its easier since its liner ,i guess you scrub back and forth right ?

The best way I have found, is to use blue-tac or Rodico to stick the case back to something with a straight edge. Then holding a block of wood (or anything else with another straight edge) on the sandpaper, run the straight edged piece (with caseback attached) along the block. This then means the sanded “lines” stay straight.
