Hi,

This watch it’s up for sale at a local site. The case is in bad shape and the movement doesn’t look perfect, needs a deep service. My concern here is paying not much for the watch but pay big for the restore.





How much does this watch worth in its current state?

I once sold a similar Heur in not working condition for 500$

Start low, a couple of hundred dollars.

its was for sale price tag 250$. Made the offer, but someone raised to 450$. Letting this one go.

$250 would have been reasonable, $450 is just wild.

At $250, this would have been a steal. $450-600 would be the range you’d expect a Valjoux 22 based chrono in that kind of condition to get on eBay.

Come on, the exterior looks like shit and the movement will probably need a lot of work, apart from the fact that I see brass and worn parts.

I am particular, I never buy brassy stuff and I absolutely hate scratches. On the other hand, I once had a table clock worth $15 to me and it made $1700 at an auction...
It was a few days from the bin back then. Haha!

Everything is worth what someone is willing to pay.

My personal opinion, I would never even look at that one with the Valjoux 22.

Any decent watchmaker can service any movement 10 times without leaving any traces, it is mind boggling how some watches and movements looks like shit.

Something it’s just worth what someone is willing to pay for.

My initial feeling was not going over $350. Don’t really know how bad it’s the movement and parts for the Valjoux 22 are expensive. The case it’s in really bad shape.

But someone payed 450 for the case but not me.
