Hello everyone,

Just to pay my tribute for all of those that help building this community.

When I joined to HF, I started by admire the builds, craft, suppliers,... that live here at this forum, and moved to start doing my own builds only by sourcing the raw material (still trying to get a CNC/lathe) and use them as my working base.

This was/is only possible because of the knowledge that it's shared around here. I feel encourage to do things and if I've a problem in the process, someone would help.

Thank you all.

This is an interesting aspect of the hobby isn’t it? It goes so much deeper, from different aspects, case, movement, dial, hands and even straps. So much to learn and share.

I've made a tube for the hour hand to allow a 616 set fit a 6497 movement. Already make my straps and buckles! Applied resin, paint my dial, polish, weld, shape, ...
The more I make, the more I want to learn. It's a never ending story. I've a list for the next things I want to learn. Not mastery any, but the learning process let me achieve and understand the things I want to do.

The feeling of creating and accomplish something it's really cool. Just post this thread because I'm really happy being around :)

That’s actually was the thing that brought me to HF v1. People were always willing to share. I went to many forums and the warmness, enthusiasm and willingness to share was what made me feel totally at home at HF

Here are a couple of examples.

WUS - you want to make a watch? Don’t be crazy, do you know how much it costs to make a watch. People spend years and thousands of dollars just to learn what they know.

Some other forums.... you want to learn about the movement? Why don’t you just buy one and figure it out yourself.

The other forums don't care about learn, just only assemble and show the watch. I found H-F because of Joe. I was searching for a different case and saw that beautiful deep gauge in another forum. I think Joe was the only one to reply. After exchanging some emails he told me to sign up here because I would find everything I need to learn how to build watches.

I landed here start by making a post about a 3646 build and out of nowhere got a PM from a member :) helping me.

I sent a movement to service and asked for a 6154 or 6152 cases. The master talked with another member that wasn't making cases anymore and put me in contact with him.

Even the sales corner, the asked prices are very real, no one it's getting rich, it's really getting some extra cash to buy more parts (the beauty of the addiction).

The tutorials section of the forum it's a complete library on how to do it yourself.

Got some pretty good professional consultancy about many watch topics here, we can ask to the experts and they will reply.
