Damn, I pulled out all the Angelus SF240 parts today and had planned to build a movement from scratch with NOS parts....
It appears that a few of these parts are not only NOS, they are not completely finished and I didn't see that from the beginning. So right now I am looking for tiny drills and taps to finish them.
Fortunately the positions are marked, so at least I don't need to measure, only drill and tap for the setting parts cover plate and drill and broach for the center wheel.
Disappointed!

Re: Disappointed!
Sorry to hear that Michael. But on the upside, when finished, those parts will have an extra value of being (at least partially) manufactured by you.Yoda wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 5:54 am Damn, I pulled out all the Angelus SF240 parts today and had planned to build a movement from scratch with NOS parts....

Re: Disappointed!
I wanted to line up all parts and then whack them together, I will do that later as pulling out all tools and machinery is a bit too much at this point.
I guess that 2020 will be my SF240 building year.

Re: Disappointed!
Small drills found and taps to match the screws, a little work ahead before assembly when I pull out it all out the next time.

Re: Disappointed!
Wow, those parts are REALLY NOS then. I would sh*t my pants tapping a part that took me years to find. Good luck M, we all hope you'll post some pictures of this masterpiece - in 2020 when it's ready.Yoda wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 5:54 am Damn, I pulled out all the Angelus SF240 parts today and had planned to build a movement from scratch with NOS parts....

Re: Disappointed!
It is not that hard, just a bit disappointing as I was prepared mentally. Drilling and tapping in brass is a walk in park, if you take it easy.Rotorua wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 1:38 pmWow, those parts are REALLY NOS then. I have some good stuff prepared when I find the time for my own stuff, haven't had much of that since I joined HF and H-F. Not that it matters much, I enjoy helping others with all the weird issues and I can think of my own plans while working..
