I think that I may have lost a customer today...

He is not from this forum though.

He was all over the place because I couldn't help him in one day. What's it with some people?
I tried to tell him that I have a list and that I can't just jump all the others for him, but he was not prepared to understand what I said.
So I wanted to ease up the conversation and said: "either you are patient or you will end up being one".

He hung up. I poured a glass of wine.

Dealing with "special" customers face to face at work is exhausting sometimes.

"temper your expectations" ... in this modern era of Amazon 1 day delivery, or the 2 minute latté at Starbucks ... some folks expect the same with everything

or ... these are folks that have a "me first" mentality and screw everyone else because I'm going to push the envelope ... these same people look at others around them as a means to an end or to get something done

either way ... you most likely saved yourself any future headaches

To add to the above, he emailed me six times between 0900 and 1600 hours and finally wondered why I didn't answer.
I started to answer his email bomb raid with: "I have been working, is that a good reason?"

I knew I was not going to go there, just a gut feeling...
