Supressa 52T
First, apologies for my procrastination on this review of the Supressa 52T by Neckyzips. (The “T” stands for turtle....the shape of the case)
I’ve had in my possession the Supressa 52T manual wind Prototype for almost a week now and it is utterly unbelievably fantastic! Please allow me to backtrack to when I first laid physical hands on this massive Tool Watch.
It was last Monday and when I carefully opened the USPS package containing this watch, I thought I was ready for what lay within the bubble wrap.... and of course I wasn’t.
Sure, I had spent the last month, at least, texting and emailing Joe about this project and carrying my phone everywhere I went in anticipation of receiving another picture of the latest development. He was very supportive and communication was excellent.
Unwrapped, it was a brutal beast ready to take on whatever you could throw at it...literally.. Looking closer at the surface construction of the entire watch, you can see that many many hours of thought to paper to machine to hand went into it. Almost like raising a child....it never seems to end..
Handling the case and running your fingers and eyes along the sides, over the top and after flipping it over....being mesmerized by the concave machining of the back along with the superb, crisp engravings. In the watch world, this is our definition of “eye candy”.
Placing the watch face up on the table, I began to try and unravel its secrets. Let’s talk about the dial. This has a 3 piece construction, with the base being brass and having mounting feet to attach to the movement. The top of it then slathered in retina searing lume. On top of this is the clear plexi which when looked at closely, has raised indices that poke thru the black dial that’s made of aluminum. Oh but....it gets better. Joe made a set of beautiful brushed nickel hands that are suspended above the dial as if by magic and sport the same awesome lume.
The seconds sub dial was omitted to give a cleaner look to the dial and I like it this way. If I need to check for signs of life....I put it to my ear and listen for the ticking. What a cool sound. Winding will quickly breath life back into it. Hey, it’s what a hand wind movement is all about.
While what I just described has gathered the attention of most....some may be thinking..”yeah, but what about the bezel insert. That always seems to be the same, dull and uh ok.....I can live with it”? Nope, not here. The insert is made from clear plexi which is engraved then blasted and finally lume filled from the backside with the same nuclear blue.
The plexi insert is really unique and although I was on the fence about going with it........I’m very happy that I did so. Just seeing the SUPRESSA lettering glowing back at me at night, until my eyes burn....makes it totally worth it.
The plexi insert is then pressed into the “cup” which has undergone the same “paint” treatment as the dial, thereby along with the blasting of the plexi, adds more contrast and helps to eliminate any possible glare.
The cup is then itself, pressed into a bezel that is adorned with a nice diamond cross hatched cut around the exterior. (Leg bone connected to the ankle bone kinda thing but, stay with me)
You can’t help but notice the HUGE crown at 10 o’clock which has several parts designed by Joe and implemented within. The crown has the same diamond cross hatching around the circumference and a small engraved turtle on the end of it.
Winding, setting time along with screwing and unscrewing is buttery smooth.
The crown stem tube has gone thru the same scrutiny as everything else and proudly shows numerous threads that when engaged with the crown threads is like Fort Knox...
Way more than just 3 turns my friends....way more..
Shifting your attention to the 2 o’clock position on the side of the case, you’ll see the patent pending bezel actuation button. A very very cool addition to an already finely built Tool. All I can say is, the bezel will not turn until you push the button to allow it to happen. Rest assured that no accidental bumps to the bezel will disrupt the preset that you’ve made. It’s really an addictive feature to play with too.
Ok, so watch fiends want to compare with what’s on the case back of your watch? Well, flip this one over and collect the bet winnings. It’s another well thought out Neckyzips feature / bonus! Most heavy watches tend to float to the outside of your wrist or no matter how tight the strap....it still feels like your gonna lose it. Not with the Supressa.. The concave machining is rather remarkable in that it actually helps seat the watch to your wrist, preventing that dreaded “watch flop” from happening. There’s also no top heavy feeling......at all.
In the center you’ll easily be able to see and read the engravings defining the model, maker and series without having to turn and angle the watch. Engravings are super crisp and perfectly centered and spaced, like one would expect. In the exact middle is the same engraved turtle that’s found on the end of the crown. Only this one is larger and if you look close, you can see a 5.....a 2......and a ....”T”... Joe’s design that really blends well. Also, this turtle isn’t engraved as deep as the surrounding text. It’s more like a shadowed effect.
It’s pretty cool as it doesn’t make for a cluttered look.
The case is truly and quite literally the backbone here and It’s also the first part made with 6 big counter bored holes for modified Allen head “bolts” that sandwich everything together. The bottom outside edge on both sides of the case, (9 &3), has had the edge removed to avoid any discomfort to the wearer. I’ve been wearing this basically 24/7 , only taken off during showers, and have had zero discomfort.
Lug screws definitely weren’t an after thought and boast a 2.3mm diameter. Also, all four lugs have been threaded so that you never have to fully remove the lug screws to change the strap. You could blindfold yourself and have your wife time your strap change time.
Thank you for reading my first ever review and please excuse the more technical approach towards it. I will be adding more constructive feedback as I wear it from day to day......so please check back often for updates.
I would also like to thank Joe for bringing this Kraken to life and showing us what can be done.
After you’ve gazed at the following pics and have a few minutes to spare.....please cruise over to www.neckyzips.com for pricing and see what else he has going on.
(Per Joe...HF members only, will receive special pricing on this fantastic tool watch)
Best regards,

The Supressa was built to tackle most any environment. Desert trip today out past Borrego Springs and even though the “turtle” was out of the water.....it of course..performed flawlessly.
