Hello HF movements gurus,

I need advice on OH of my ROLEX cal.622.

I recently obtained ROLEX 622 in luckily.
She is regularly overhauled and works very well now.
But I'd like to repair rust on her bridge.

I asking two Japanese watchsmith about this rust removing,
but they said they could not that.
They said if try remove rust, it will peel surface plating.

I'd like to return her to beautiful figure of first.

If you're talking about the rust on the escape wheel cap jewel that is a polished steel part. There is no plating on it. The main bridges and etc. are plated brass but the cap jewels are polished steel. And someone has already altered the pallet bridge in your movement, it should not be that yellow brass color, it should match the silver color on the other plates and bridges.

As unreformed66 wrote, those parts were polished and no plating will be harmed if restored.

I have seen that brass pallet bridge before, someone did something wrong and plating is the only way to restore it.

Plating bronze palet will hide a little that it was filed. It will improve the look. 90 percent of watch makers by polishing will convert that rusty flat cap into shiny round candy. So if they said it’s plated and impossible, it means they do not have confidence in result, no need to insist.

I know a guy not far from Argentina, who already made similar job many times with good outcome, I have one of his caps and wheels.

the rust looks go inside to some extend already, personally I would polish to not 100 percent, depending on rust damage.
