Some experimentation with aging a dial. Trying to get a natural blackened silver patina. Started off with a raw brass dial
Step 1 was to polish to a mirror’ish’ finish with 7000 grit sandpaper
Step 2 apply silver powder
Step 3.... tried humidity.... 48 hours. Not what I was looking for (the gloss was still there)

Cleaned and reapplied fresh silver powder
Step 3b.... crushed egg shells and boiled water so there is steam...24 hours

Step 4.... handled by hand so my oils are on the dial. 72 hours later

So I went a little crazy with Squale and currently have. Few projects going. My 8 year old has expressed a wish to get involved in my hobby. He has been admiring the Squale stuff I have and said he wants one too.
So our mutual project begins today with an arrival of the Squale Dippy case. I’m super excited about this and will start a build thread for this one.

So, as all we know, watchmakers are like kids... Going on all four from time to time...

I know how it goes: usually, if some part flies away, you don't have spare (Murphy)...
