Cool vintage vibe. I assume it’s a modern piece?
Thanks, it is a Seiko Alpinist. More of a reissue than anything else. It uses a 6R15 movement with the addition of a diashock absorber for use in a rugged environment. Smaller than most at 38-39mm. Love the shade of green.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

A Parnis hand wind. Much larger than I usually wear at 44mm but I really like the dial..

Plus the movement looks like it will be fun to play with...

Now for the long wait as it is coming from China.

Unitas 285 with 21 jewels - highest jeweled movement from "6497 family" I've ever seen (at least 2 of the jewels are probably just for decoration, but still... :) ).
Before that the most were 19 jewels in UT287 I have in one of my projects :)

Most likely on the dial side, where the escape wheel is. Still, I am puzzled by the layout, it seems meaningless to have cap jewels in one end and not the other. The correct thing would have been cap jewels in both ends and make it a 23 jewel movement. Most movement makers start with adding cap jewels to the pallet arbor assembly and then the escape wheel.
Yes, judging by the 19j UT287 I have, it's on the other side of the escape wheel. And yes the other 2 are useless - the movement is probably from that time in the 70's when 'more jewels = better'

Well, let's count once more... Ut285 is 15 jewels, adding six more makes it 21, right?
