Yes they are. I've only ever used them in my belts, never in any watch straps. Unlike round holes, it's pretty hard to line them up perfectly.

just mainly a suggestion on my part ...

On these larger Panerai style straps, the buckle prongs are flat and wide ... aesthetically, the oval holes look nicer. Looking around the strap making business, the higher end straps use oval holes ... OEM Panerai, Audemars, ABP, Bell & Ross, etc. Referring to big straps/buckles 22/24/26mm. Oval holes set you apart from the rest of the round hole guys.

There are multiple 5 oval hole punches while eliminates the alignment issue.

When going with smaller 20mm style straps (fit Rolex or Omega) ... these buckles have thin prongs which better suit the small round holes.

24mm custom 3-layer strap, made with vacchetta leather. One of my DLC buckles sewn-in.

This is natural Italian Vacchetta leather, undyed, lightly oiled. 24mm. Another one of my DLC buckles sewn-in.

Custom made open ended 26mm strap to be sewn onto a 3646 build. Buckle handcrafted by me.
