toofsy, glad to see you finally managed to remove this bezel.

With this kind of assembly, you can usually remove the retaining spring by the top. No force or sharp tool needed.
- remove bezel insert (heat will help to soften the glue, then I use a hand lever all round the glass)
- push the bezel horizontally on one side, in order to enlarge the small gap between the bezel and the case at the opposite.
then you should be able to find one tip of the retaining spring,
lift the tip and pry it off.

Hope I'm clear with my poor English vocabulary ,
if not, shoot me a PM and I'll explain in french.

Thanks, in fact the bezel insert is really tight between the walls of the bezel design. I tried the method you detail but the mineral glass broke as a silex part.
On the other hand the spring are to hight in the bezel construction to be able to find a tip, and a second spring block the lateral mouvement (spring for the clicks)
In all the case the knife method worked without damaging the case or the bezel.

No access to the spring from the top because the bezel is plain with two walls. No need to remove the insert to remove the bezel. But I'm going to replace the insert for a custom acrylic one

I understand what you mean,
I didn't pay attention to the inner wall, the method I've described I've used it with cheap Subs or Seiko, so no such inner wall...

I'm always reluctant to use the knife method, some chinese bezels can easilly bend...
on the other side, I have the same 4 blades tools as yours and wasn't able to use it properly
so sometimes you need a bigger hammer

Some requests
Could you please share measurements of the insert?
Also can you see if the insert lume can be scraped out?
Perhaps a photo of the insert backside?

I'm learning to use a lathe to my Fablab, I will need time to make more precise part. I'm going to start to make a 3D of it on Fusion 360, which also manage the CNC way...a new CNC will be soon oprational to the Fablab.

I already completely destroy a PAM bezel with hammer (@Mir36 that's why I stop my PAM024 project a t this time)...The 4 blades tools is not appropriate to remove this kind of bezel, maybe more for non turnable ones.

there is no recess on the back of the insert, you can scrap of the lume with out destroy the black paint layer.

We should open a new thread dedicated to this homage to share specs and all the mods which will arrive soon? I plan to make a comparaison with the other case with drilled lugs and the steeldive homage too.

My best advice to you all is to keep your tools sharp and polished to avoid damage to cases, screws and parts.

Case knives, screw drivers and tweezers.

I wish I could learn to use a metal lathe, but the fablabs around me only have cheap CNC for wood and plastic...

lazy... but maybe have to file down a bit the crown guard and may be need to make a custom crown, as the one in the set was a bit different from the one from archives...
