I just noticed the seconds pinion sticks out past the jewel… is this why Athaya sells the long tube seconds hand? If I don’t need to master the lathe to build mine it’ll be so much easier! Holy shit!

Yes, that's why the long tube seconds hand is needed.

Re: January 31st 2021
Will be the coming week. It appears that I am coming home Thursday next week, hopefully. I have been at the hospital for six weeks now and I am pretty worn.
It has been the "long walk" since 2011 when my cancer presented itself.
I have had severe ups and downs since then and I have somehow developed a procrastination problem which some of you are aware of. Sorry about that.

That's good news!
Which type of movement are you using? KW, SW, non alarm, alarm, incabloc, incastar or no shocking protection? Pictures?

Re: January 31st 2021
The balance bridge was barely on and the balance spring was out of true, but after a little tweezer work and lots of unwanted adrenaline it runs like a whip. I didn’t let it run long, haven’t torn it down for cleaning and service yet. The wheel looks like it might be glucydur, and although the movement is dirty and has some corrosion it’s relatively free of scratches. I believe the stamp on the main plate is 1.56.
It was a lucky pickup. Was in a group listing of a dozen different movements on eBay, didn’t even have Angelus or Gubelin in the title or description. I’ve also got a key wind 240 with incabloc on the way.

Re: January 31st 2021
Congratulations to these two. Good job on the hairspring. It looks as if the cap jewel is missing, is that the case?
The incastar regulator should be around half past one when adjusting the beat error and then you adjust the time keeping.
Yes, it does look like a glucydur balance, not the most usual configuration.

Thanks much for the setting details, this is my first Incastar, really an amazing design! The cap jewel is there, my desk lamp has a ring bulb and the reflection creates the illusion that the jewel is missing. It’s pranked me several times and I’ve gone looking for a cap jewel, only to find that it was on the whole time. The first time it happened I thought I was losing my mind

Regarding the settings, it is a straight line escapement and as such the impulse jewel should be in line with the pallet arbor assembly. My guess is that it is 90 degrees from the balance wheel spokes and therefore these spokes should be 90 degrees from the balance cock to achieve zero beat error.
