Was browsing the tube just now and look what I found from 8 years ago...

Had a detached retina a few years back, was no picnic. The vitreous humor, fluid in the eye, was drained off so my surgeon could laser weld the separated tears back together. They filled the eye with an inert gas to keep the pressure on the 'welded patch' at the rear of my eye. Took about month for the vitreous humor to displace the gas, was very unsettling. Having to stay on your stomach for a couple of weeks, not being able to read or watch anything in which you had to track with your eyes was bad enough, but as the fluid refilled you eye the vision distortions cause headaches. Found that impersonating a pirate with an eye patch worked best. BUT, no more "FLOATERS" !!

No picnic is right. Worst part of the detached retina recovery for me was the sleep pattern disruption. Waking up at 3am wide awake while everything is dark and quiet.

You didn’t like the spirit level look of the gas bubble?

Reminded me of the old days of snorkeling, except upside down.....with the water level going up!!!
