One of my friends was visiting China, Guangzhou, so I asked to buy some watch cases from a place called 'Watch and Clock City'.

It's basically a big shopping mall that sells all kinds of fake watches and things related to watches & clocks.

Since he's a non-watch person and can't really explain what I want, the simple instruction is to "Buy the big stuff on the spot".

And here is what he came back with. Most are quartz watch cases not very useful, but there are 3 U-boat watch cases which are what I wanted.

It's how I am, I couldn't resist the chance to comment.

Finally I got my hands on one, 2-elements magnifying glass, adjustable and light-weight, perfect for watch repair. They’re surprisingly hard to find.
