I have seen people burnish the edges on these a while back, to make them less "hairy", but I assume there are different schools.

I think they use a burnishing tool made of wood and beeswax.

I ‘m really glad you like it! The open grained leather is by far my favorite to work with. It takes such a nice patina.

You are absolutely right - I usually use gum tragacanth to pre-seal the edges and then shine them with a diy edge slicker and beeswax. On this one I wanted a more unrefined look. The edges will wear in pretty fast by themselves and I like the contrast.
