I have forgotten to update this. But I found a few recently. Conclusion? Prices are all over the place, but my general impression is prices are considerably lower than a few years ago (the pre-conversion era), maybe because by now we've all got our hands on one or two 240s (or 20, yes, looking at you, leeyewfei ).

Personally, I would not pay more than $500 for a stem wound 240 alarm movement, and probably not even that. I'd buy at $300-$400, depends how much you need/want it, I guess (got mine years ago). And a working key wound I'd buy at $100-ish, for parts (or to replace a SW in a weather station and keep the foursome/sixsome working).

SW 240 alarm

£390: Angelus foursome: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Angelus-trav ... 7675.l2557

€456: Angelus sixsome: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-reiseuhr-W ... 7675.l2557

$999: Angelus foursome: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Angelus-Trav ... 7675.l2557

SW 240 non-alarm

£865: Conversion, I guess: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Ange ... SwRW9cZrmu

€1750: Conversion is my guess: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seltene-Ange ... SwO-pcTb5h

KW 240

$399 (alarm): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-vintage ... 7675.l2557

€300 (non-alarm): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Angelus-weat ... 7675.l2557

$110 (alarm): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Art- ... 7675.l2557

€1750 is definitely a conversion. (Signs of wear on the train plate typically due to changing the alarm time) and the main plate is an alarm unit.

Guys, any idea what is a realistic price for a genuine non alarm (non shock protected, older model)? I might have an opportunity to get one but don't know the actual (average) market price...

Thanks!

And then again, I have seen some people selling those for 1800$ when in mint condition. (I'm not saying is a fair price)

Yes,but I guess it's really hard to find those in mint condition, since they are the oldest version.

How do you know which Angelus clocks have the 240 and which have another movement like a 243? Surely there is a science behind it by now.

this is a 243 clock. the back cover is mounted with 2 bigger screws while in a 240 it is mounted with 3 tiny screws (details does matter).
with the 240, the winged winding knob is mounted onto the movement with a screw while this one is not.
with the 240, the back cover is less crowded. there is no alarm stop lever on the 240. the position of the various knobs are also important. the position for adjusting the +/- is located further outside the cover.
