So I just looked and realized that it's been almost a year since I posted in this thread. Time flies when you're having fun..lol. Here's a cute little 2 tone Waltham that I bought the other day and serviced. It's a 16 Size Model 1899 made in 1904. Grade 620 which is one of Waltham's most common watches but this one is from a run of 200 that were 2 Tone. Most Grade 620s are nickle finished. So on to the pictures.

And here's a Longines 19AS that belongs to a member here that I did a while back. It's a very nice Super Compressor and was a breeze to work on. The quality of these old Longines movements was very good. I particularly like the unique self winding system they used.

Once in a while I manage to work on something that actually belongs to me. I've had this IWC for a few months and it needed service badly so today I decided to take a day to do a job on one of MY watches for a change.

So for you viewing pleasure I present the venerable IWC Cal. 8541B.





Note the hard bronze bushing for the barrel arbor. A nice touch.





Note the two screws on the balance cock. The one nearest the balance jewel sets the beat. The one furthest from the balance jewel is the regulator. Very nice setup and makes setting the beat a breeze. The balance wheel itself has 3 eccentric screws, one on each of the spokes of the balance wheel. They can be turned to affect the poise of the balance for positional adjusting. Quality all the way through.

First adjustment.

The IWC Pellaton self winding system. Devised by Albert Pellaton in the 1940s. This is my favorite self winding system. It's efficient, simple, and easy to work on. It puts ETA's crappy reversing wheel system to shame.


The self winding weight is somewhat shockproofed by use of the then metal spring held by a screw that retains the weight on the axle.

This one is beautiful. The movement is Gorgeous and the close ups show such detail most eyes would miss.
