An H3 plus tall tubes should be enough for a thicker sandwich dial.

That is, so as not to soldered the hands and use regular hands

Yes. Blue color will be affected at 290-300°. Soldering with soft solder can be done at 180-190°. It's not so scaring experience if you use a soldering-iron with temp adjusting.

I think if the hands were made from the proper material that will blue, you will run into other problems.

The hand holes will need to be (re-) broached after heat bluing due to the most likely distortion of the tubes.

Wouldn't it be easier to modify the CP and HW?
I think not only appropriate but look much better to extend the cp/hw for few more $ more.

If you use tall tubes from the nightwatch hands that have faux cannon pinion it will look great. Also a lot cheaper than a custom set of hw and cp.
