The Grand Seiko Spring Drive 9R has 56 jewels.

Do not do anything on the 1st of January!

Ehem... cough cough.. it’s not a Seiko... it’s a Grand Seiko (sbga231).. Image

Kidding aside... Had I purchased it 12 months earlier it would have been double branded Seiko / Grand Seiko (sbga031)... and 900€ cheaper. I wish I hadn’t pushed my purchase the last few years. When I finally decided after sending back a ”brand new” but with chipped bezel and crystal Rolex Seadweller 4000, it was already too late. And suddenly it even made the whole purchase less fun, that back in your head that instead of thinking ”wow, half the price of SD4000 and so much better in all aspects” it was telling me ”well... it could have been 5/6 of the price..).

Cant pop pictures, closed caseback and I want to keep WR.

Don’t regret it at all by the way.. Rolex is not even in the same category. Grand Seiko truly deserves to be compared to A. Lange, AP, Patek, JLC and VC.

It isn't? Then I learned something new today. I have seen Seiko Watch Corp JP on the sales sides, so I was convinced that Seiko/Seikosha were the makers.

They are separate brands nowadays, separate factories etc. Nothing is in common. They have different aspirations and mark-up both financial and ”mechanical”. (Grand Seiko factories also make Credor). Only thing in common is the mother company.

Some Seikos are made with Grand Seiko techniques such as the new LX-line (and Credor). Hand-made lapping. Manual lapping of dials and hands... manual movement decoration However, the Seiko guys and the GS are different and are geographically split. They can get upgraded to more expensive models after years of experience.
