Master Yoda, could you tell us the difference between the versions and how can you tell when looking at the back of the movement? I’m interested so I can tell when looking at these movements in clocks as potential donors.

The upgraded version from Panerai has two more and they were installed where the brass bushings are on the train bridge and on the dial side.

I note that he says “ The original “Panerai” Angelus 240 movements were equipped with two extra jewels, one on the train gear bridge (3) and one in the main plate. PAM 203 movements have only 15 jewels. Where the original “Panerai” movements have the extra jewels, the PAM 203 units have “only” a typical clock bushing.” So these aren’t as close to the original as thought (or perhaps suggested...).

Panerai could definitely had added jewels ... Panerai never cared to change the the engraving from 15 to 17 ... all about maximizing profit, leaving those vintage 240 movements as they got them and have the jewels engravings match all the other engravings ... if they changed them to "17" ... just so much more added cost they couldn't care to incur
you can see on various threads here on HF, where extra jewels were added .... but the engraving of the 240 have mostly all are "15 jewels"
