Thanks friend.. I try find some information about this letter M on mainplate.. I find this Cort on ebay, never see before 616 in this case.. I order new mainspring.. Next is make service, short second pinion.. Question is polish maiplate or not?

I picked up an interesting pocket watch today at a local antique market.

At first glance, it looks like a Cortebert cal. 616, but behind the balance I see the UNITAS markings and the numbers 285 and 497.

Does anyone know anything about this movement?

Hi,
What exactly do you like to know?
The early Unitas 285/497 is the predecessor of the Unitas 6497.
By the way, all pieces of information can be found on internet and on the Ranfft-DB

But I used this movement for a Hommage build for a friend of mine, see below.




As you can see it fits in a AliE 47mm but also in a 45mm case.
Dial and hands for a 6497 and/or ST36 can be used on this movement.

Looks good!To be honest i think the Original Cortebert were better looking then the Rolex clones made from Cortebert.The stars alone is a plus for me!

Excellent find! I’ve got one of these movements as well, except it’s signed by Arsa rather than Edox. Like DJ57 noted, it’s pretty much the 6497 but with a different bridge layout. I’m pretty sure the parts are interchangeable between the two. There was a discussion here a year or two ago about this one being the bridge of Cortebert using their own in house movements and the switch to the Unitas/ETA 6497.
