I see,said the blind HF member :) :oops: You are absolutely right,I hadn't looked at the movement photos carefully,I was distracted by the overall look of the clock (dial,case,etc.).

So the inca bloc is the module and the star is the regulator? I have one just like the picture above and always thought it was called inca star.

I also have the later rendition with no "star" regulator and thought that this style was called inca bloc.

Horology is one of those subjects where there is an overwhelming amount of info to learn hehe.

Why would incastar be present on the earliest panerai model equipped with 240s (egi) and then be done away with on later models?

No, but I assume that incabloc is the one people are looking for as it was used by P*****i.

Incastar came 1948/1949 and the new barrel plate pattern came 1655/1956, so a personal guess is that this particular movement was issued 1955/1956 or later.
