OK this post is changing completely since I can't delete it. The MkXV pilot homage I previously posted was advertised at the "wrong" price.
Here's something else I spotted, has anyone tried getting https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001354469467.html

and also an even lower cost option which obviously has a few rough edges:

Is it just a cartel case?
I would plan on changing the crown, dial, hands and crystal anyway.
There's a similar item with a Seiko logo and NH35 movement from another store.

I tried changing the crown and I must say, it was harder than I expected. I thought I could tap out the tube without removing the bezel and crystal. Ended up breaking the crystal in the process and dislodging there bezel too. After removing bezel and crystal, use a heat gun to melt the glue that’s used to fix the tube.

Is this a vintage Explorer 6610 case?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002688337480.html

Has sapphire instead of plexi and has no lug holes drilled. Or I guess the design has been kept the same up until the Explorer II.
It's dirt cheap though.

Definitely not a vintage 6610 ...
- lugs too fat and not drilled
- sapphire instead of plexi
- main case too fat
- wrong case back
- etc ...
Such a case could be modded to 6610 specs but with a hell of casework ...
Here's one I'm working on ...
Still in progress but already nice IMHO ...

Nice! Did you built it from a modern explorer case?

Thanks Image
I started with a DhGate moder "Explorer" case ... about the same as the one from AliE ...
Thinned the case, drilled the lugs, reworked the case back, etc ...
I'll replace the sapphire with a plexi, T21 if it fits ...
