No pics or it didn't happen... Them are the rules...Yoda wrote:Fuck you John, I will post on Saturday and stuff your ass with pictures! LOL!Piloten wrote: ↑January 29th, 2021, 12:42 pmMichael!Yoda wrote: ↑January 29th, 2021, 9:50 am ...doing so little...
I have two queues, 1 and 2.
Number 1 is the straight line, number 2 is when someone comes by and wants a battery replacement or a new strap, or both. It can be other things, easy fixes so to speak.
I once thought of queue A and B, but then someone would feel the A is for premium customers and B is for unfortunate fuckers. It is NOT the case!
Sometimes I am waiting for parts, sometimes I am not feeling well, sometimes I am pretty much in the dark about what to do next with a difficult repair.
I picked a Shatz Marine clock from the number 1 queue yesterday (I have had it for a year) and removed a lot of green and black stuff from the bridges, green stuff and rust from the arbors and made a new escape wheel arbor as it was completely gone because of the mineral oil used. This clock has been in a box for 40 years since the last service with mineral oil and grease, full pressure on both barrels, which had made some of the the holes oval....go figure..
So, this month I have only repaired one clock, only shipped two parcels, patience is the name of this game.
You can't put up a repair like this and not post a couple pictures. Geez

Reading your post, I remembered the good soul of Dad, who as a child I followed curiously, when he tried to do everything (sewing shoes, greasing the shotgun, always getting cartridges for shotgun) in short, everything. I learned a lot from him ... but above all I learned patience and tenacity, these elements, which are really essential for our hobby.
Here I also reflect on the builds made by me, in some even 1 or 2 years, always with the (not spasmodic) intent to recover every part, always compatible and appropriate.
But when in the end, you manage to finish everything ... Hallelujah.

Thanks John! It wasn't easy, all the parts were frozen due to mineral oil and 40 years of hibernation and full pressure on the springs....Now it is running fine, with a healthy beat and chiming glasses.

German style, it is running for a week and that is why the barrels are so big.
