I’m sure the law and patents are so complicated. Most patents have been around for so long too that it’s difficult to keep exclusivities on everything. Patents run out eventually.

I am not an expert but even Giuseppe Panerai called the 3646 a Rolex watch. I hardly think modern Panerai has the high moral ground in all this considering how they have outright lied about history. Things like this make me just enjoy the homages even more.

I think they do have the right to sue copyright infringements but the case we discuss here is quite hardly one imho.
There are plenty of makers selling homages on ebay and other platforms, with or without P logo, that make almost exact copies of the Luminor and Radiomir watches including exact dial layout and they go and sue a factory that's maybe the only one that tries to differentiate? This sounds laughable to me. Check the pic: watches are black, a vague case and dial resemblance and that's all. No one in his right mind could think the awski is a P watch.

That's the point. There is no deception in Awsky look or marketing ...

According to them, the issue is that AWSKY is using similar marketing to the one used by Panerai (I'm guessing the Italian navy theme, etc, etc)

Perhaps the owner of awsky brand was not an upstanding party member or his social credit score dropped below a certain level... and thus got picked for reeducation in this form? And now the great rulers can point to this case and claim that they do care about copyright laws!
